Stone Soul
Alma de Piedra is the name of our foray into the world of spirits, and we could not have done it any other way than with an authentic Mexican distillate from a little-explored region. The “vino,” as it is called in Laguna de Sánchez, comes from distilling the fermentation of musts and pulque derived from Cenizo and Verde Maguey plants from this area and neighboring communities.
Laguna de Sánchez is located in the Sierra de Santiago, Nuevo León, in northeastern Mexico. Its name comes from a lagoon that forms during the rainy season. It is surrounded by mountains, which contribute to frequent rainfall in the lagoon.
The environment of the Sierra de Santiago, the manual milling with a mallet, the fermentation accentuated by pulque, and the traditional mastery of Jorge Luis Torres Casas result in a smooth aroma, a warm sensation, and caramel-flavored notes.
